WATER AUTHORITY – CAYMAN USES LOCAL ENGINEERING COMPANY TO EXTEND WATER MAIN

The residents of Mahogany Estates will soon be joining the rest of the island in enjoying the “world’s most popular drink” – water, piped to their homes, says Dr. Gelia Frederick-van Genderen, Director of Water Authority–Cayman (WAC). The Water Authority has awarded local water and sewer consulting company, CMEC, Ltd. a contract to outfit Mahogany Estates sub-division, located in the Bodden Town area, with potable water mains for connection to the public water supply.

The scope of the project is to install approximately 1.0 mile of 4 and 3 inch diameter water mains in solid rock terrain. All of the seventy lots will have access to piped water and approximately 16 developed premises are expected to be connected to the Public Water Distribution System soon after completion of the works.

CMEC, Ltd. specializes in the design and installation of water, sewer, electrical, and telecommunication infrastructure for new and existing sub-divisions and large developments. The company has installed over 10 miles of water mains in varied terrains, with pipes ranging from 3” to 6” in diameter, since its establishment in 1999, says Managing Director, Mr. Antoney Reid. CMEC has the expertise, experience, equipment, and manpower necessary to carry out projects such as the one awarded.
